About Us

The Wool Mill opened in 'The Beaches' in Toronto over 60 years ago and is the longest operating yarn shop in Toronto.  Our move up to the Danforth happened in 1989 and we have been happily selling yarn and supplies here and fixing dropped stitches since then.

Our current location coincidentally was originally a wool processing business in the early 1900’s as we have been told by a local historian.  We offer a wide range of quality yarns from luxury fibres like alpaca and silk blends to those for the budget conscious shopper.  We offer both beginner and intermediate knitting classes as well as specialty classes like socks, fairisle, and cable.

Customers are always welcome for a quick fix or consult on a knitting/crochet problem with our knowledgeable staff.  We are well known for our knitwear repair service and have customers from BC, NS, and as far away as Europe sending us repairs. We also have a finishing and custom knit service.

Wendy (the owner) is one of the go to people in the Toronto film and television industry. She has created knitwear for over 200 movies and tv shows and enjoys the challenge, but not always the tight deadlines.
